The Impfactor consists of data on how much social activity we as consumers of the information have taken on that specific information, that is the engagement term. If we have made a comment on a blog the impfactor increases, if we write our own blogpost about another blogpost the impfactor for the original post increases, if we favorite a Youtube video the video impfactor increases, if we favorite an image on Flickr the impfactor on that image increases, if we retweet a tweet on Twitter the original Tweets impfactor increases, if we reply to a freindfeed post the impfactor for that post increases, if we embed a Slideshare presentation the presentations impfactor increases and so forth. Above and many more topics are included in the Impfactor algorithm.
The Impfactor algorithm
These areas are calculated in the impfactor algorithm:
- Authority of writer
- Authority on subject
- Conversation surrounding the specific information
- Mentions in other places about the specific information
- Reach and virality
- Stickyness and reuse (favs/embed)
- ….and much more
The Impfactor has unique parameters for each media and each service. The Impfactor consist of more then 50 parameters.
Everything that is measured is depending on the social activity that the specific information creates.
The Impfactor will be updated regularly according to how the market changes.
